GUARDIAN program

We have implemented a Guardian Program is to ensure all breeding dogs live their best life in their forever homes without ever being kenneled or rehomed. This allows us to expand our breeding program knowing that each and every dog is loved and cared for as they deserve. Unfortunately, we can only keep so many dogs in our home...which is why the Guardian Program was developed.

The Process – When we have a prospective breeding dog, we will locate a suitable home for the dog to live forever. This dog will live in your home as your family pet, while Sugarwood Australian Labradoodles retains the breeding rights of the dog until breeding career is completed. This guardian program allows families to have a "pick of the litter" puppy that will also be fully health tested at our expense. The Guardian Home must be willing to loan the dog to us for testing, breeding, whelping, and raising puppies. After the dog has finished their breeding career, the dog will be spayed/neutered (at our expense) and full ownership of the dog will be transferred to you.

The Guardian Program is designed to benefit all involved- the dog, the Guardian Family, and Sugarwood Australian Labradoodles. Read through some of the benefits...

1. The breeding dogs benefit greatly from the Guardian Program because they will live in a loving, forever home. They will never be kenneled or have a lack of love and attention.

2. Guardian Program families have the opportunity to get a "pick of the litter" puppy that is fully health tested. Sugarwood Australian Labradoodles adoption price is $3000.00, but there will be NO ADOPTION COST to those in our Guardian Program. Furthermore, during times the female dog is whelping and raising puppies (usually 6-7 weeks per litter) Guardian Homes have opportunities to take vacations without the expense of boarding the dog. Male dogs will only be needed for short periods of time.

3. Sugarwood Australian Labradoodles has peace of mind in knowing that our breeding dogs are in loving homes receiving the attention they deserve. This allows us to grow our program safely and responsibly.  

Requirements – 

• Guardian Home must be within about 100 miles* of us (zip code 25168). *Will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
• Guardian Home must have a physically fenced in yard (no invisible or underground fences). Please discuss any special circumstances with us. Guardian Home must maintain dog on a leash when not in fenced yard.
• Guardian Home must not have other intact pets in the home (all other pets in home must be spayed or neutered).
• Guardian Program family must have a schedule that will not leave dog alone for long periods at a time.
• Guardian Home must own home; no renters.
• Guardian Home must agree to provide food, supplements, and medications (i.e. flea/tick and heartworm) approved by Sugarwood Australian Labradoodles. 
• Guardian Home must maintain regular grooming per Sugarwood Australian Labradoodles specifications (may bring to be groomed by Sugarwood Australian Labradoodles if desired). 
• Guardian Home must have reliable transportation and willingness to bring the dog to us as needed for testing or breeding purposes.
• Guardian Home must provide basic obedience training. Further training is encouraged. Everyone that comes into contact with the dog will appreciate the time you have put into training the dog. 
• Guardian Home will provide all regular veterinary care and maintenance of the dog (vaccines, medical care, grooming needs, food, etc) while Sugarwood Australian Labradoodles will cover all breeding related expenses.
• Guardian Home will provide pictures to Sugarwood Australian Labradoodles, at least monthly. Pictures may be used on social media. Besides, who doesn't love cute puppy pictures?
