About us

Hi! Allow us to introduce ourselves. We are Lisa and Aaron. Our family of 4 has a small, in home breeding program of authentic multi-generational Australian Labradoodles located in the beautiful state of West Virginia. We call home a rural area, approximately 25 miles outside the capital city of Charleston.  We are, in fact, the first and only breeder in WV of certified Multi-generational Australian Labradoodles. We are proud members of the ALAA and WALA.

Our dream began when we brought home our first Australian Labradoodle, Charlie, in 2014. We quickly fell in love with this breed's gentle and loving nature, not to mention the low to non-shedding coats for our family with allergies.  Our Charlie is smart, intuitive, goofy, playful, a people-pleaser, and so loyal.  He has been the best friend to us and our boys and continues to bless our lives here today. Fast forward to the present, when we decided it was time for a companion for Charlie. Without a doubt, we knew we wanted another Australian Labradoodle. This time around, however, we decided to take a huge step forward and start our own program. With our combined backgrounds in health, business, and owning and breeding dogs, we felt equipped to provide a service that could offer others an amazing pet and experience. Thus, Sugarwood Australian Labradoodles was born!  

Born and raised in West Virginia, we knew we wanted to represent our small piece of paradise in our name.  Fun facts: Sugar maples are the state tree in WV (and what a beautiful creation) and WV has 78% of its land covered in forests or wooded areas.  Interestingly, our research also led us to realize that "sugarwood" is a prominent, long-living small tree with striking character native to parts of Australia; thus our name not only represents our family but also the roots of the Australian Labradoodle. Furthermore, the name "Sugarwood" implies something both "sweet" and "solid" which are perfect qualities describing our pups!

At Sugarwood Australian Labradoodles, we will strive to be a responsible breeder of healthy and well-balanced multi-generational Australian Labradoodles.  Our mission is to provide healthy life-long companions and/or service dogs with wonderful temperaments and low to non-shedding, allergy/asthma friendly coats.  Ultimately, giving your puppy the best start is paramount!
